Lucky Cement holds book donation drive on ‘International Literacy Day’ in Pakistan
8th September 2014, Karachi : Lucky Cement Limited celebrated ‘International Literacy Day’ by donating curriculum and literature books to underprivileged students of schools in Nooriabad, Karachi & Pezu (dist. Lakki Marwat). International Literacy Day, held globally by UNESCO, is aimed to highlight the importance of literacy to individuals, communities and societies.
“According to UNESCO’s ‘Global Monitoring Report on Education for All’ South and West Asia has the lowest regional adult literacy rate of 58.6%. Taking the lead from this, Lucky Cement has been holding International Literacy Day in Pakistan for the last two years and has been actively pursuing the goal to improve the educational facilities and literacy rate of the local communities around both its projects” said Mr. Amin Ganny, Chief Operating Officer, Lucky Cement Limited.
Lucky Cement collaborated with a local NGO for donating books to the students of Hilal Public School, Nooriabad. Similarly, the company also donated books to Govt. Higher Secondary School, Yarak near its Pezu Plant.
