If you had asked me a few years ago where I saw myself, the answer would have been simple: somewhere deep in the world of code, building systems and solving technical problems as a Computer Science student. But life has a funny way of surprising you and for me, that surprise came in the form of Human Resources.
During my academic journey, I had the opportunity to intern in HR not once, but twice first around two years ago, and then again about a year later. What initially started as just an experience to explore something different gradually turned into something much more meaningful. With each interaction, task, and learning experience, I found myself enjoying HR more than I had expected.
What truly drew me in was the human side of the work. Unlike the structured and often solitary nature of technical tasks, HR allowed me to connect with people, understand their perspectives, and contribute to creating a positive work environment. I realized that I genuinely enjoy engaging with individuals, communicating ideas, and being part of processes that directly impact people’s growth and well-being.
I would describe myself as someone who naturally gravitates toward communication and interaction. I enjoy talking to people, learning from them, and continuously improving myself through new experiences. HR, as a field, aligns perfectly with these traits it challenges me to grow, adapt, and stay curious every day.
Now, as I approach the final year of my Computer Science degree, I find myself at an interesting crossroads. While my academic background has given me valuable analytical and problem-solving skills, my passion clearly lies in HR. This realization has led me to actively pursue opportunities in this field, where I can combine my structured thinking with my love for working with people.
Currently, I am working in HR as a trainee, and it has only reinforced my belief that this is the path I want to follow. The dynamic nature of the work, the constant interaction, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact excite me in ways I hadn’t anticipated before.
Looking ahead, I am eager to continue growing in this field learning, evolving, and contributing to organizations by helping build strong, people-centric cultures. My journey may not have followed the traditional path, but it has led me exactly where I feel I belong.
And sometimes, that’s what matters most.
