Looking back, my journey has been less about following a straight path and more about exploring the unexpected, from studying marketing to discovering a passion for travel and eventually stepping into the world of SAP. It was during my university years that I truly began discovering myself, not just as a student but as an individual.
One of the most defining experiences of that time was participating in an exchange program in Egypt. During this period, I worked as a Marketing Trainee at an animal clinic, where I gained hands-on experience in applying my academic knowledge in a real-world setting. Living in a different country, immersing myself in a new culture, and interacting with people from diverse backgrounds broadened my perspective in ways I had never imagined. It sparked my passion for traveling and taught me empathy, adaptability, and open-mindedness, qualities that continue to shape my outlook toward life and work.
This journey didn’t stop there. Even last year, I had the opportunity to participate in another exchange program in Sri Lanka, where I worked on a water research project at the Ocean University of Sri Lanka and also taught English in a primary school. This experience allowed me to engage closely with a different community, strengthening my communication skills, patience, and cultural awareness. It further enhanced my adaptability and ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
Alongside these experiences, my marketing major played a significant role in building my confidence. Through presentations, internships, and creative work, I developed strong communication and content creation skills, learning how to express ideas effectively and connect with different audiences.
However, despite my background in marketing, I always felt a pull toward something more technical, something that would challenge me in new ways. That curiosity led me to take a leap of faith and join Lucky Cement as an SAP Trainee. Transitioning into a technical domain was not easy; it required me to step out of my comfort zone, learn complex systems, and adapt to a new way of thinking.
Like any new beginning, it came with challenges, but each one became an opportunity to grow. With the support of experienced mentors and a collaborative work environment, I gradually built my confidence and found my place in this field.
At the same time, I never let go of my passion for traveling. What began as an exchange program evolved into a love for exploring the world. These experiences have made me more independent, resilient, and open-minded, qualities that have positively influenced both my personal and professional life.
Looking back, my journey from marketing to SAP may seem unconventional, but it reflects who I am, someone who embraces change, takes risks, and continuously evolves. I believe growth lies in stepping into the unknown, and with curiosity and determination, every experience can shape you into a better version of yourself.
